Women's Suffrage

Women are Equal

In the early 1900's women were starting to become more and more involved in our government and sports. In 1902, the first woman figure skater competed in the male division and placed second. Then in 1917, Jeannette Rankin became the first woman to serve in congress. The amount of woman in government has increased by a significant amount. Today in the current congress 16% of seats are held by women. Women such as Hillary Clinton show how far women have come in their fight for rights. She has accomplished many things in her career and is currently our secretary of state.
