Women's Suffrage

Women Can Fight like Men

In 1901 before World War 1, the Army and Navy Nurse Corps opened the door for women in the military. However, the United States was not serious about using these women until we became involved  in World War 1 in 1914. Many women (nearly 13,000) joined the Navy and Marine Corps and received medals. After the war many women went back home and began their normal life as a housewife. Although a few of them continued to work at jobs that were not considered to be "lady like."
